Four people have been injured after a fire engulfed an apartment complex in Redwood City, California.
The blaze took hold at the four-storey Terrace Apartments shortly after 5am local time (1pm UK time), according to fire officials.
The 75-unit building was seen collapsing around an hour after the fire broke out as flames burst through the top floor. Officials said none of the injuries sustained by the four casualties were life-threatening.
Twenty fire engines and more than 100 firefighters were sent on the scene, with plumes of smoke billowing into the air visible for miles around.
Roads surrounding the complex were closed off by emergency services.
